Wie oft müssen Gardinen gewaschen werden?
Mit der Zeit fangen Ihre Vorhänge Blütenpollen, Staub und anderen Schmutz auf. Generell sollten Sie Ihre Gardinen waschen, sobald Sie merken, dass diese einen unangenehmen, vielleicht leicht muffigen Geruch entwickeln. Gerade in der Küche sind Ihre Gardinen den Essensgerüchen stark ausgesetzt. Auch Rauch setzt sich schnell in den Vorhängen fest. Zudem verlieren die Gardinen ihre strahlende Farbe, wenn sie nicht regelmäßig gewaschen werden. Grundsätzlich müssen Gardinen allerdings nicht allzu oft gewaschen werden – normalerweise ist es ausreichend, Ihre Vorhänge zwei- bis dreimal im Jahr zu waschen. So bleiben die Gardinen staubfrei und sauber!
Gardinen waschen: Vorbereitung
Das Folgende sollten Sie vor dem Waschen Ihrer Gardinen beachten:
- Hängen Sie Ihre Vorhänge erst kurz vor dem Waschen ab, um zu verhindern, dass der Stoff stark verknittert.
- Schütteln Sie die Gardinen vor dem Waschen gut aus. So entfernen Sie bereits vorab groben Schmutz und Staub.
- Entfernen Sie vor dem Waschen alle Metall- oder Plastikteile an den Gardinen, damit Vorhänge und Waschmaschine nicht beschädigt werden.
- Optional können Sie Ihre Vorhänge außerdem in einem Wäschenetz waschen, um so das Material zu schonen.
Gardinen mit der Waschmaschine waschen
Gardinen können praktischerweise einfach mit der Waschmaschine gewaschen werden. Wählen Sie zum Waschen der Vorhänge einen schonenden Waschgang mit einer Temperatur von maximal 30 Grad aus, da die Stoffe der Vorhänge meist empfindlich sind. Ein geeigneter Waschgang ist zum Beispiel ein Feinwaschprogramm mit geringer Schleuderzahl. Meist reicht ein Feinwaschmittel aus, um den Schmutz aus Ihren Gardinen zu entfernen und sie wieder in neuem Glanz erstrahlen zu lassen.
Natürlich gibt es auch spezielle Waschmittel für Gardinen, die sich besonders anbieten, um Grauschleier zu beseitigen. Allerdings enthalten die Gardinenwaschmittel meist Bleichmittel, welche der Umwelt schaden, und sind zudem teurer als herkömmliche Waschmittel.
Tipp: Bei weißen Gardinen sollten Sie am besten ein flüssiges Waschmittel verwenden, so reduzieren Sie die Gefahr, dass sich Schlieren auf dem Stoff bilden. Außerdem können Sie Ihre Gardinen problemlos auch mit anderen Textilien zusammen waschen, um die Waschmaschine zu füllen. Sie sollten die Maschine nur nicht zu sehr füllen, um Knitterfalten zu vermeiden.
Gardinen mit Hausmitteln waschen
Sie können Ihre Vorhänge mit einigen altbewährten Hausmitteln von starken Verschmutzungen befreien. Diese helfen Ihnen effektiv dabei, dass Ihre Vorhänge wieder frisch und sauber vor den Fenstern hängen. Zugleich können Sie so auf die Chemiekeule aus dem Supermarkt verzichten. Folgende Hausmittel helfen Ihnen beim Waschen Ihrer Gardinen:
- Backpulver oder Natron: Das Zufügen eines Päckchen Backpulver oder Natrons zum Waschpulver sorgt dafür, dass ein Grauschleier auf den Vorhängen schnell verschwindet. Bei besonders verschmutzen Vorhängen können Sie diese auch vor dem Waschen über Nacht in der Badewanne mit Wasser und etwas Backpulver oder Natron einweichen und anschließend in die Maschine geben.
- Zitronensäure oder Essig: Füllen Sie Ihre Badewanne mit Wasser und geben Sie Essig oder Zitronensaft hinzu. Lassen Sie die Vorhänge für mehrere Stunden in der Mischung einweichen und waschen Sie die Vorhänge im Anschluss wie oben erläutert noch einmal mit der Waschmaschine.
- Waschsoda: Mischen Sie in der Badewanne Wasser mit Waschsoda (orientieren Sie sich bei der Dosierung an den Empfehlungen auf der Verpackung) und tauchen Sie die Vorhänge ein. Spülen Sie die Gardinen anschließend gut aus und waschen Sie sie gegebenenfalls noch in der Maschine durch.
Gardinen richtig trocknen lassen
Gardinen sollten auf keinen Fall im Wäschetrockner landen, da dies zu starken Knitterfalten führt oder sogar den Stoff beschädigen kann. Hängen Sie die Vorhänge einfach feucht an der Gardinenstange auf und lassen Sie sie dort trocknen. Die Vorhänge trocknen an der Luft schnell und knitterfrei. Wenn Sie die Falten etwas glattstreichen und den Faltenwurf korrigieren, können Sie im Anschluss also getrost auf das Bügeln verzichten. Leichte Gardinen können Sie beim Trocknen zusätzlich unten mit Wäscheklammern beschweren. So hängen sich die Vorhänge aus und die Stoffe trocknen automatisch faltenfrei. Hängen Sie Ihre Gardinen im Innenraum auf, sollten Sie das Zimmer ausreichend durchlüften, da eine hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit die Schimmelbildung fördert.
Gardinen bügeln
Sind die Gardinen anschließend trotzdem noch nicht faltenfrei, können Sie nachhelfen und die Vorhänge bügeln. Dabei sollten Sie darauf achten, dass die Vorhänge noch bügelfeucht und nicht bereits vollständig getrocknet sind. Beginnen Sie beim Bügeln am oberen Ende der Gardinen und arbeiten Sie sich nach unten vor. Vorhänge aus Leinen sollten mit einem Dampfbügeleisen geglättet werden, bei Chemiefasern hingegen reichen auch geringere Temperaturen beim Bügeln aus.
Fazit: Gardinen richtig waschen
Gardinen tragen viel zu der Atmosphäre Ihrer Innenausstattung bei und sind zum Glück sehr pflegeleicht. Es ist vollkommen ausreichend, die Vorhänge zwei- bis dreimal im Jahr zu waschen. Vor dem Waschen sollten Sie Plastik- oder Metallteile an den Vorhängen entfernen, damit weder die Gardinen noch die Waschmaschine beschädigt werden. Waschen Sie die Vorhänge mit einem Feinwaschmittel bei geringer Temperatur und niedriger Schleuderzahl.
Sind die Gardinen stark verschmutzt, helfen Ihnen verschiedene Hausmittel, sodass Sie nicht direkt zu einem speziellen Waschmittel aus dem Drogeriemarkt greifen müssen. Lassen Sie die Vorhänge vor dem Waschen beispielsweise in der Badewanne mit Wasser und etwas Natron oder Zitronensäure einweichen und waschen Sie sie anschließend in der Maschine mit normalem Waschmittel noch einmal durch. Die Vorhänge sollten zum Trocknen aufgehängt und nicht in den Wäschetrockner gesteckt werden. Durch das Glattstreichen der Vorhänge beim Aufhängen bilden sich keine Knitterfalten und Sie sparen sich das Bügeln.
